Hey! Just checking in to tell you that I have started sewing viking clothing (and creating some other goodies) for my very own web shop! I am hoping that you guys have some patience with me – as this is a one woman project (at least for now). Being a full time student at uni, This might take a while- BUT I would rather have it take time than delivering products that I cannot stand for. Quality, authenticity and style is very important to me, and I cannot wait to show you the finished products. I will keep you posted -so don’t worry about missing out on the opening of my shop. Also – I will announce it beforehand at instagram, on my Facebook page and here at my viking blog. Thank you so much for the lovely feedback I have gotten on these plans – you guys motivate me to work hard at this task. And thank you for waiting<3
This will be grand.

Also; I’ve had quite a few photoshoots lately.
Pictures coming up – stay tuned *waves eagerly*

Love,

If you follow me on Instagram (@thevikingqueen)  you’ve probably seen that I will embark on my very own “viking clothing designer” journey soon. I will open my own online shop store and sell handmade viking garb by yours truly! Please have some patience with me as I am a full time student and need to focus on school for a few more weeks to come before I can even start this project. These irritating creative impulses need to be tamed for some time before I can finally unleash my inner beast -and go bat shit crazy with scissors and needles;)

Anyhow, I will keep you guys posted and announce the opening of the shop some days beforehand.

-Yule outfit, 2015-

joletid

Gleðileg jól! I have celebrated yule for days now with my nearest and dearest. Ale, mead and meat was on the menu. Ah, it was glorious! As you can see, there is no snow in the Northern realms. My parents live in the south even though my whole family comes from the north of Norway. This time of year makes me miss the northern light and the cold, clear air a little extra.

Winter solstice and the “return”of the sun is worth celebrating. I wandered deep into the woods to commune with spirits of olde, to worship the moon and the sun. To me, Yuletide is about keeping the ancient norse traditions alive. Year after year, after year.

The Outfit: is hand sewn, made by me (100% linen, and 100% wool) The tablet weave is Oseberg style. The pelt is 100% wolf(!) – vintage and smelly. Haha! Seriously, though…It is kind of smelly. When buying vintage pelts you may have to hang them outside for some time to make the smell go away.

How do you celebrate this time of year? I hope you’re having a blast whatever you are doing. Stay close to those you hold dear, and honor those that have passed. Be kind to others, maybe even more than usual this time of year…You never know what people might be going through.

Oh, and…Don’t be fooled by their sweet, stunning appearance ~ These two are some of the wisest, strongest and toughest women I know. Viking Shieldmaidens unite! Even if the world crumbles, I know that they will stand by my side, and that I will always stand by theirs. That’s just the kind of people we are.
