Hey! Just checking in to tell you that I have started sewing viking clothing (and creating some other goodies) for my very own web shop! I am hoping that you guys have some patience with me – as this is a one woman project (at least for now). Being a full time student at uni, This might take a while- BUT I would rather have it take time than delivering products that I cannot stand for. Quality, authenticity and style is very important to me, and I cannot wait to show you the finished products. I will keep you posted -so don’t worry about missing out on the opening of my shop. Also – I will announce it beforehand at instagram, on my Facebook page and here at my viking blog. Thank you so much for the lovely feedback I have gotten on these plans – you guys motivate me to work hard at this task. And thank you for waiting<3
This will be grand.

Also; I’ve had quite a few photoshoots lately.
Pictures coming up – stay tuned *waves eagerly*

Borre Viking Market “2016” (part two)

borre20This place – “Borrehaugene” or “Borre National Park” is peaceful and beautiful, and the meadowsweet is surrounding the viking burial mounds. If I were to describe what a Viking marked is like it would be something like this: A time travel full of vibrating energies, with the smell of bonfire smoke and the taste of salty meat. borre23I need to build myself a throne and I felt very inspired when I saw this one. (Will obviously not copy it – who the f* does stuff like that anyways?) borre21borre16borre8borre22borre17borre19Laura Šmideberga is such a sweet, talented lady. She is glowing and her beads are so pretty. borre26These beads are handmade by her. Love them all- especially the gold beads in the middleborre1borre24Casually chilling in front of a tent. Beholding Viking Bling blinds me and I need to sit down to collect myself whilst shopping ancient style. .

I believe that I have expressed my love for this Viking market before, but I am happy to do so again; Borre Viking Market in Horten, -Vestfold, Norway, is one of my favorite markets so far. This market is biannual, which means that the next Kaupang will be in “2018”.

Still working out which markets to attend this summer.
Which one will you go to- What is your favorite market(s)?

Borre Viking Market “2016” (part one)

borre14borre11borre7borre10borre12borre13borre15Frøydis is one of my nearest and dearest friends. We had stayed up until the early hours giggling through the night before, and figured we should keep the party rollin’. We therefore started the following day with a champagne breakfast!  Teehee.

Borre was…. really windy! Actually, all the vikings I met complained about the strong winds making them feel seasick. The weather gods granted us typical Northern summer weather (hooray). Borre Viking Market is every second year, but it is well worth the wait as it is one of the best markets that I know of. So many talentet craftsmen- and women – from all over the world attend this market to sell their art. Their passion about our culture brings great joy to my heathen heart – For it is those who know how to create that will keep it alive.

*I am writing this the day before our Yule festivities. Gazing at the Yule Tree made me feel like sharing some memories from the past year with you guys. Ah-I long for the upcoming season whenever I look through my viking market photos, and I hope that I get to meet even more of you guys the summer of “2017”! A list of the markets I will attend will be published during 2017.

Greetings from the North! Yule is upon us and Tis the season to be preparing oneself for a traditional Heathen celebration – Mead, meat and honey, family and loved ones. Be good to each other, people of Midgard. You never know what people around you might be struggling with and the gods knows that it is cold enough here already.

Sarpsborg Viking Market “2016”

The visit at Sarpsborg was a short one this year. It was just a day trip to breathe some viking vibes with my friends. In hindsight, I wish I had taken more pictures, but I will probably have a chance to do so the coming year. One can never take too many pictures. Never ever.
sarp1Preparing for a feast, the Viking Way. A couple of men occasionally appeared to turn the animal whilst humming to themselves.   sarp4I absolutely adore these mugs. They made me daydream of happy times surrounded by friends and loved ones, sitting in front of a bonfire deep in the norse woods. I imagined sharing stories and laughing for hours, singing and enjoying each others company. Ah, that would be grand. It saddens me to say that there is too little of the sort in my life these days. But I would love to change that.
gjallarstadir88Oddities like these have fascinated me ever since I was a weird, kinda lonely child. Crow claws are über cool and crows are my favourite birds. I am well aware of the fact that ravens “should be” my first choice- but I guess I have strange preferences. (Ps – these are ethically harvested. No birds were killed to collect their feet)
sarp5Okay back to my daydream about the bonfire. In that daydream, these would be filled with mead, and the mead would never end. Anything goes when you imagine it, therefore my mind tends to wander a lot. And wander it does when I am beholding glorious viking goods like these! I could sell myself the whole market with that imagination of mine.
borre2I’ll take the Hammer over the cross any day. Therefore I cropped it away, didn’t let it stay.
sarp2Lamb meat and a viking lady being crafty in the background
sarpsarpI like to change my viking boob bling occasionally. The black beads are actually volcano rocks. Btw- those are my natural nails…Unfortunately, the ones on my right hand were shorter than those on my left. I love symmetry godsdamnit! My nails tend to break a lot due to heavy lifting at the gym. Oh well, totally worth it.
gjallarstadir77Been thinking about buying a drum ever since last summer. Any day now… Any day.

vikingsarpOutfit hand stitched by me – 100% wool & 100% linen. The tablet weave is Oseberg style, I wear it to Honor one of the queens that ruled before me *wink*

Like I said in my last post, I am going through a lot of photos that I simply forgot about in order to finally share them with you guys. So – Stay tuned for more:) Hope you are all having a wonderful night.

This is what I’m doing tonight. Working on one of my new viking dresses! Good fun for this gal.

Høst does not look amused…

(I think these will look good with this fabric. Bronze is my fav for earth tones.. I used to wear these a lot before I upped my vikingbling game. Figured I’ll use different Viking boob bling for different outfits.)

…Sága is still a wee kitten, and therefore easy to amuse
img_2979
I think I will go with black linen thread for now. Will use wool thread for the embroidery 😉

Oh my gods, her face! Hahaha

Tonight is all about creative vibes, and of course – my two cats. Those of you who live with cats know that sewing is an activity that is nearly impossible to engage in… My fur babies follow me everywhere, and I mean everywhere I go! They love to place their butts right in the middle of my fabric, often just as I’m about to cut it or pin it together. Pursuing my creative needs can be bit stressful due to my cats’ constant interest in “what their mom is doing”. But that’s a small price to pay for all the kitty love I receive ❤ !
