Vápnum sínum
skal-a maðr velli á
feti ganga framar,
því at óvíst er at vita,
nær verðr á vegum úti
geirs of þörf guma.

Away from his arms in the open field
A man should fare not a foot;
For never he knows when the need for a spear
Shall arise on the distant road.

  1. This is so beautiful. I seem to visit your blog every time I need to relax and get distracted from whatever brain-boiling thing I am doing currently (such as, trying to memorize the history of English for tomorrow’s test in this particular case).
    If it’s not too much of a bother, could you write something about traditional clothes, styles, colours, fabrics, etc? The dresses you are wearing are so lovely.

  2. Nice pictures – and Hávamál quotes are always an interesting read! In this case, though, I have to wonder where your weapons were? Or were you enacting Hávamál 38.5: Away from her armed men in the open field A woman should fare not a foot; For never she knows when the need for a small army of spearmen Shall arise on the distant road. 🙂
